New president for Kirkby Inner Wheel

Posted onPosted on 27th Jul

Members of Kirkby Inner Wheel met at The Summit Centre to celebrate Barbara Williams’ successful year as president and to hand over the chain of office to incoming president Sita Singh Tunstall.

The club raised £2,200 for Barbara’s adopted charity for the past year, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a cause dedicated to supporting bereaved military children.

In addition £350 has been given to the Community Food Bank at St John’s Heritage Centre, Kirkby Woodhouse, which supports the homeless and those in need. The cheque was presented to Patrizia Canova, who works for the project.

During her year in office Sita will be raising money for two charities — Sense and NSPCC.

Fundraising began with a lunch at Sita’s home. Three members of the club also delivered quality ladies’ clothes to the Sense charity shop in Hucknall.

They were donated by Ann Wilson, who is keen to support Sense, one of the chosen charities of incoming president Sita. Fellow member Jean Toseland helped.
