Cameras at the ready! Ashfield District Council is looking for talented photographers to enter its 2022 Discover Ashfield photography competition.

The competition, now back for its fourth year, is open to all Ashfield residents with three category winners each receiving a £100 high street voucher. The competition opens on Thursday 16 June and closes on Sunday 31 July 2022.

This year’s brief is to photograph everything Ashfield has to offer, its places and people living and working in the district. Under 16s is a new category for this year and the council said: “We would like to see how young people see the area they live and the spaces they use, it might even be a person who inspires you!”

The three categories are: Under 16s, People, and Places.

Portfolio holder for Health and Wellbeing Coun Rachel Madden said: “Seeing the competition grow each year and the fantastic images produced means we are excited to bring the competition back for its fourth year.

“We are so proud of how the residents of Ashfield pulled together over the pandemic and unfortunately many services were affected. The photography competition remained and gave people a picture of Ashfield when many couldn’t get out themselves”

Judging will take place in the days after the closing date on the 31July 2022 and the winners will be announced in the week beginning 15 August.
