Children at Burntstump Seely C of E Academy have been getting expert basketball training with coach Mark Waters.
The workshops, which help children of all abilities to get to know the sport, are a great way for children to get fit whilst having fun, says Mark.
He added: “This is my eighth year visiting schools delivering high energy basketball and I am having a fantastic time! The children love the music and tricks, and it is a great opportunity to be a role model and share positive messages with them.
“Today I have worked with children at Burntstump Seely C of E Primary Academy, a lovely little school with amazing children and staff. I love my job and find it a real privilege to share my passion for sport and to inspire the next generation to be active, be proud of who they are, and to work hard in life.”
Year 6 pupil Blake said: “This lesson is really good and I would recommend basketball to everyone! I have played the game before, but its good to work with a real coach and I would like to keep doing it as I get older. I think Mark is really good at helping to make us better at our game. He helps to get us thinking about how to move and play better. I have really enjoyed the lesson.”
Head teacher Emily Sopp added: “Children have had a wonderful time working with Mark. At Burntstump we work hard to provide lots of opportunities for our children to experience and are always looking for different sports and activities to engage our children in. This workshop has been a great way for our children to get to know the game, to work on their basketball skills and coordination. All that whilst being active and having fun in the sunshine.”
