Double boost for APTCOO appeal

Posted onPosted on 6th Apr

Mansfield Mayor Andy Abrahams, centre, presented A Place To Call Our Own Ltd (APTCOO), with a cheque for £500 from his 500 grant fund towards new sensory equipment for children and young people with special needs, together with their families.

The funding is part of a larger project raising money for equipment and refurbishment of the charity’s Botany Avenue centre, led by Jacob Graley who successfully completed the Sheffield half-marathon.

Jacob said: “I managed to beat my personal best and, most importantly, raise £1,160 for APTCOO.

“I would like to say thank you to everyone who donated and supported this fundraiser. I hope to see the children utilising the sensory equipment very soon.”

Jacob, APTCOO preparing for adulthood lead and operations coordinator, and the charity’s chief executive, Carol Burkitt, received the cheque from the mayor.

The charity, which is celebrating 30 years of supporting families with special children and young people, said it was very grateful for the mayor’s generosity and looked forward to welcoming him again to its family hub.
