Rotarians back new Men in Sheds group

Posted onPosted on 9th Mar

A new Men in Sheds group in Mansfield, which was featured in last month’s News Journal, has received support from Mansfield Rotary.

Men in Sheds, Ransom Wood — based at the business park — aims to enhance the lives of retired men, helping their mental health and wellbeing, and involving them in the local community.

The groups give members the chance to pursue practical interests, practice skills and enjoy making and mending.
Men in Sheds, Ransom Wood appealed for support from the community and Mansfield Rotary presented it with £200.

Founder member of the group Denis Owen thanked Rotarians for their “most generous donation” and explained that he had spent the money on four drills and impact drivers.

There are experienced members who can train and assist those who are new to woodworking and the use of machines in a workshop.

Once fully open, there will be two sessions a day, each running for three hours, over four days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am to 12noon and 1pm to 4pm. Fridays will be Ladies Day and also for major projects in the workshop.

The sessions running from Monday to Thursday will cost £3, including tea, coffee and biscuits served in a purpose-made canteen area.

Call Dennis on 077604 94546 for more information.
