Everyone Active’s Ashfield leisure centres team is celebrating after scooping a coveted national award.

They received the Healthy Communities Award at the online ukactive Awards 2021 event.

The accolade acknowledged the organisation leading and delivering a physical activity focused programme that is targeted at the wider community to encourage increased activity and participation.

Everyone Active manages Lammas Leisure Centre, Sutton; Festival Hall Leisure Centre, Kirkby; and Hucknall Leisure Centre, in partnership with Ashfield District Council.

Everyone Active contract manager Lorenzo Clark said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the Healthy Communities Award, and to be recognised by those in the sector.

“This award was achieved through the hard work and dedication of the whole team, and we’re all very proud of what has been accomplished in the Ashfield community.

“As a team, we’re also looking forward, with the aim to develop and improve on the work to date.

“We will continue to look at ways to innovatively engaging all members of the community in physical activity, including those with disabilities and individual needs.”

Coun Rachel Madden, cabinet member for leisure, health and wellbeing at the council, said: “This is fantastic news that our leisure centres have been recognised for the integral part that they play in our community by a national award.

“We made a commitment to improving leisure provision in Ashfield and we have done exactly that.”

Together with Everyone Active, we have invested £21.5m into our leisure centres throughout the district because the health and wellbeing of residents is a key priority for the council.”

The ukactive Awards is a celebrated event in the leisure industry, recognising initiatives and facilities getting more people active within local communities.
