Mansfield’s popular summer festival, which this year is called Wonderfest, will take place at Titchfield Park on Thursday, 26 August, from 11am to 5pm.
The free event is staged by Mansfield District Council in collaboration with Mansfield Cultural Services and community groups from across the district.
Tickets, which are free, are required this year. There will be the usual family-friendly entertainment, including live music, face painting, arts and crafts, interactive displays, walkabout acts and food vendors.
In addition, the free Wonderfest ticket includes the opportunity to watch a special outdoor performance of Alice In Wonderland by Chapterhouse Theatre Company. The production at 3pm is suitable for all the family. Capacity for the theatre area will be reduced and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis on the day.
There will be weird and wonderful Wonderland-themed activities and entertainment at the festival so visitors are being encouraged to dress appropriately for the occasion and perhaps don their favourite wacky hat.
Food wise, there will be the Queen Of Desserts’ bus and street food by What Yer Gerrin Mi Duck. Visitors can also pre-order afternoon tea to take away from Titchfield Teahouse by calling 01623 656093. Check their menu out on Facebook @titchfieldteahouse.
In addition, the event will be linked to the environment and the great outdoors and will seek to improve health and wellbeing, so look out for seed planting demonstrations, sporty activities and healthy living advice.
The Mayor of Mansfield, Andy Abrahams, said: “After a long and difficult 17 months, Wonderfest presents a perfect opportunity to get together with friends and family and have some fun in one of our award-winning parks.
“We have our fingers crossed for good weather but, in any case, it promises to be a great day out as there really is something for everyone.
“Bring a chair and relax as you enjoy songs, dance and music in the free performance of Alice In Wonderland.”
Some of the confirmed activities include:
Your Health Your Way – smoothie bikes.
We Are Undefeatable – showcasing physical activities with accessible exercise classes throughout the day.
Serco – Zumba taster sessions.
Mansfield Museum – Mansfield of the past display and free activity to make a bug hotel.
Stagecoach – Children’s playbus.
West Nottinghamshire College – inspiration station activity.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead at all times and any dog mess is cleaned up immediately.
Tickets will be required to enter the park on the day so that capacity can be managed to provide a safe and secure event. Keep up to date as activities are confirmed at www.mansfield.gov.uk/events
