Stags sign another loan player

Mansfield Town have signed forward Vadaine Oliver on an emergency one-month loan from Crewe Alexandra – their third loan player in recent weeks, and their second this week, to combat an increasing injury crisis.

Oliver’s signing follows news that frontman Alex Fisher could be out for up to four weeks with a dislocated shoulder, sustained in night’s 0-0 draw at Tranmere Rovers.

Sheffield-born Oliver began his career at his hometown club Sheffield Wednesday and penned a two-year professional deal with the Owls. Following his release in 2012, the 23-year-old made an impact at Lincoln City where he netted 14 goals in 41 matches.

His scoring exploits attracted interest from a number of Football League clubs and he signed for Crewe in June 2013 for an undisclosed fee.

The 6ft 2in hitman is available for selection in the Stags’ League Two match away at York City tomorrow. He has been allocated shirt number 25.
