Easter eggs donated to hospital thanks to MP and Morrisons

Ashfield MP Lee Anderson teamed up with Eastwood’s Morrisons store to donate Easter eggs to King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton.

The MP was approached by Becky Stanbridge, community champion at Morrisons, as the store had numerous Easter eggs to donate.

Morrisons had already made donations throughout Eastwood and asked Lee where he would like more to be donated.

The pair arranged to visit the hospital and make the surprise give away. Dozens of  bags were transported to the reception for the children and old people wards. Nappies were also donated to the maternity ward.

Becky said: “I have been overwhelmed by donations from the public and staff to help make sure no child is left without an Easter egg this Easter. Everyone has pulled together to give us a great amount to donate to hospitals, schools, care homes and food banks. I feel so proud being able to help my community out. We had so many I turned to Lee as we didn’t want any going to waste. He immediately thought of King’s Mill.”

The MP also launched a ‘guess how many eggs were donated’ competition on his Facebook page with the winner receiving the one remaining Easter egg. In total 105 Easter eggs were donated.

Lee said: “I was really happy to be involved with this. It’s good to see businesses and the community thinking of others. I can’t think of anyone more deserving than King’s Mill.”
