Florist teams up with schools for Mother’s Day treat

Family-run online florist Bunches, based in Newstead, gifted 200 bouquets to Hucknall National C of E Primary School and Rufford Primary and Nursery School, Bulwell, close to its headquarters in Newstead Village, for pupils to give to the women in their lives ahead of Mothering Sunday.

Hucknall National C of E Primary held a competition asking children to create pictures, poems, and letters explaining why their mum or special female figure deserved one of Bunches’ bouquets to be in with a chance of winning the flowers.

Dani Turner, customer experience director at Bunches, said: “Mother’s Day is such a special time of year for us. We love helping our customers to bring a smile to the amazing women in their lives.

“It was lovely to be able to spread joy to so many families for Mother’s Day, especially after such a challenging year of home-schooling and separation from loved ones. We really hope all the ladies enjoy receiving their blooms.”

Sarah Barratt, headteacher at Hucknall National C of E Primary, said: “It has been wonderful to celebrate with all of our families and give them some beautiful flowers from Bunches. All the parents have worked so hard to either educate their children at home or on the front-line as key workers and it is so important that we recognise and give thanks for the immense contribution that they have made to our pupils and the whole community.

“It has also been fantastic to acknowledge our dedicated staff at Hucknall National Primary School, who have been so committed to providing the absolute best for all of our pupils in such very challenging circumstances.”

Bunches began selling flowers at Mansfield Market in 1989. As the first florist to offer postal delivery, the Nottingham-based company has now sent more than ten million gifts to help customers celebrate their meaningful moments.

The business also donates a minimum of ten per cent of its profits to charitable projects in the UK and overseas and is committed to improving its sustainability credentials, with strides to reduce its use of plastic across its entire product selection.
