Mansfield District Leisure Trust has announced the roll out of the Rebuild™ training programme, which aims to inform, educate, and prepare gym teams dealing with customers who have been affected by COVID-19.
More than 4m people in the UK are struggling with the effects of the coronavirus and CAWS® Rebuild™ certified coaches will be equipped to work with people recovering from Covid-19 and Long-Covid after the acute phase.
The Rebuild™ course is run virtually using content provided by world-class fitness coaches, athletes and subject matter experts and 10 Level 3 fitness coaches from the leisure trust’s sites are completing the programme, recognised across Europe as the leading education course in Covid-19 rehabilitation for fitness and sports professionals.
Andrew Smith, contract manager for Mansfield District Leisure Trust, said: “As we approach the potential reopening date of April 12th for gyms and fitness facilities, it’s vital that our teams are expertly prepared to deal with the unique challenge presented by the Covid era. We’ve been running safety training and refresher courses during lockdowns, but the CovidOVID-focused programme from CAWS® was something that really stood out as adding value to our health and fitness offering.
“Rebuild™ is proving popular with our gym teams who see this new type of training as adding to their customer-focused skillsets. By April 12th, I fully expect us to have ten gym staff fully qualified and ready to expertly assist those customers who’ve experienced Covid-19 at its most direct level.”
CAWS® built the Rebuild™ Programme in direct response to the needs of individuals who have lived with Covid-19 and suffering with ongoing symptoms in the wake of the virus.

If we get this right, if we start to work with people and have that broader impact, we can grow exercise participation as a whole beyond where it’s been sat for the last 25 years easily, just by getting the right messages across now. Mansfield District Leisure Trust operates four facilities in the region. In line with all other leisure sites in England, its centres have been closed since December 2020. However, a recent announcement from Prime Minister, Boris Johnson indicated that gyms and pools could potentially reopen from April 12th, 2021.
