Rebuild joy at specialist Yeoman Park Academy

Posted onPosted on 10th Feb

Yeoman Park Academy, a specialist school based in Mansfield Woodhouse, has been identified by the government as one of the first 50 schools in England to benefit from a new transformative 10-year rebuilding programme.

The £1bn scheme, first announced by the government in June, will see a major rebuilding programme start nationwide in the autumn.

Yeoman Park will be redeveloped to the latest green credentials and will include an extensive range of modern facilities to support students aged three to 19.

The academy offers education for pupils with ASD and profound and multiple learning difficulties.

Principal Courtney Hoop (above) said: “As a staff team, our core focus is always on ensuring our children and young people are given every opportunity to demonstrate what they can do and to reach their full potential — regardless of any physical disabilities or barriers to learning that they face.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that as part of this new development we will be able to offer an enhanced teaching and learning environment. Our children deserve the very best.”

David Cotton, chief executive of Diverse Academies Trust, which runs the academy, added: “This will provide enhanced, modern facilities, which will make an incredible difference to the communities we serve.”

Mansfield MP Ben Bradley added: “I’m over the moon that Yeoman Park Academy will be benefitting from state of the art facilities. This will have a really positive impact on the students and give them the world class education they deserve.

“It’s welcome that Government is proving how committed it is to levelling up across the country. We need to make sure that every child, no matter where they go to school, can learn in an environment that enables them to reach their full potential.”
