Helping vulnerable children

A Mansfield schools trust has been praised for its work to help vulnerable families and the community.

The Evolve Trust — which runs The Beech Academy and The Brunts Academy in Mansfield and The Bramble Academy in Mansfield Woodhouse — converted a meeting room into a charity shop for trust families to access clothes, toys and other essentials.

At Christmas teachers and support workers within the trust created hampers for 50 families identified as vulnerable.

Jephsons Shopfitters was among other Mansfield businesses that contributed to the hampers, filled with toys, vouchers, chocolates and food.

Director Ian Jephson, a trustee for The Evolve Trust since 2017, also reached out to Mansfield Town Football Club for season tickets to donate to the vulnerable families.

“Stags season tickets give families an event to look forward to and an experience they may not otherwise be able to encounter,” he said.

“It’s great to see the trust consistently react to the circumstances Covid-19 continues to put upon us.

“We are in a reactive period of time. The Evolve Trust is working closely with the community and doing everything in its control to create positive influences that will nurture our young people during this challenging time.”
