School swimming lessons return at Lammas Leisure Centre

Posted onPosted on 16th Nov

School swimming lessons have been given the green light to resume at Lammas Leisure Centre, Sutton.

The site, managed by sports and leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Ashfield District Council, has been closed for 11 days due to the second coronavirus lockdown.

However, from today school swimming lessons can begin again, giving a huge boost to children’s activity levels.

The centre will be open only for the provision of school swimming lessons and will not be available for the use of the public at large.

This is in line with government guidance, which allows schools to use swimming facilities in leisure centres but leaves it to their discretion.

Lorenzo Clark, Everyone Active contract manager, said: “We are delighted that school swimming lessons are available again at our Hucknall and Lammas sites.

“Our thanks go to Ashfield District Council as without their support this would not have been possible.

“I know our staff will work incredibly hard to ensure a Covid-safe environment, just as they did ahead of our recent re-openings.

“Physical activity is so important for children’s physical and mental health, especially during this second lockdown, and will give them a much-needed dose of normality.”
