Amazon’s newest UK fulfilment centre in Sutton started operations at the site in Summit Park with a range of Robin Hood-themed activities, including fancy dress, archery sessions, a DJ playing top tunes, balloons, a socially-distanced photobooth and cupcake giveaways.

After cutting a ribbon to mark the start of operations at the site, the Sutton team also enjoyed a cake made for the occasion. Every new member of the Amazon team signed a paper leaf that will soon be added to a giant portrait of the Major Oak tree in the fulfilment centre canteen.

Speaking at the launch, site leader Georgia Akuwudike said: “Welcoming the team to our newest fulfilment centre in Sutton is a big moment for the local community and for Amazon in the UK. It’s also a proud moment for me and for all our team members. Sutton is a fantastic location for Amazon and we’re really excited about the great things we can achieve here.”

Curtis Kaszycki, who has joined the team at Sutton, added: “We’re all very excited to start what will be an incredible journey for us at Amazon in Sutton and it’s been great to mark our first day of operations with the Robin Hood-themed celebrations.”
