Some social distancing restrictions have been eased at Idlewells Indoor Market, Sutton.

Food businesses in the market have been open throughout the coronavirus lockdown, while the remaining traders have been open for business since 15th June.

Changes include:

Removal of the one way circulatory system
Removal of the queueing lane in the centre of the market
Two-metre social distancing markers and stickers to remain in place
The Market Street entrance will be reopened to two-way traffic
A limited number of tables and chairs will be reinstated in the food court area, with protective screens in place
Some socially-distanced seating will be reinstated

Coun Samantha Deakin, Ward Councillor for Sutton, said: “We are excited to be able to ease the restrictions in the Indoor Market, which will allow customers to enjoy shopping in a safe manner. I would like to personally thank all the residents who have shown support for our local businesses during these difficult times.

“The return of the seating will be a welcome return for many residents, I encourage everyone to come to the market to try some of the delicious food on offer. Many of the retailers have been providing essential products during lockdown, and it’s time to continue shopping local now restrictions have eased.”
