With coronavirus restrictions being lifted in sporting events, Mansfield sidecar racers Ben and Tom Birchall can now look forward to a return to competitive racing.

RKB Motorsport recently released its revised calendar for the 2020 season with a schedule that offers to produce an intense, yet meaningful British Championship. Three of the five proposed rounds will be held in conjunction with the British Superbike Championship.

The schedule above is subject to Government guidelines remaining consistent and should a change in the Covid-19 situation arise, the dates may have to be adjusted.

Birchall Racing have made the most of their time during lockdown, planning for the 2020 championship, while looking ahead to the 2021 season. After their successful 2019 campaign, the brothers immediately set about improving their set-up even further, and with the extra time granted to them by the pandemic, development has been extremely productive.

Ben said: “We’re really glad we seem to be coming out the other side of this terrible period and thankful that we haven’t been affected by it as badly as others. We’re really happy that we can now start to plan for the races ahead and test the developments we have been working on since the end of last season.

“With the extra time we’ve had due to the lockdown, we’ve also been able to bring forward some extra planned improvements and the team is really excited to test these out. Hopefully they will give us an edge for the 2021 season.

“Tom and I are thrilled to be racing full-time back in Britain, supporting the BSB Championship is always incredible and the fans are amazing. If all goes well, we will try and fit in some European Road Races as well. We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support including the team and our loyal sponsors.

“We’re looking forward to getting back on track and hopefully some great racing and results.”

Birchall Racing will next be in action at round one of the British Sidecar Championship from Cadwell Park on August 8th-9th.
