Kingfisher Court Care Home, Sutton held a fundraising extravaganza, raising £574 to help the Alzheimer’s Society work with people with dementia.
Kingfisher hosted a Hawaiian-themed Cupcake Day with activities for residents and staff, including hook the flamingo, a hula hoop challenge and a tombola raffle.
Residents and staff wore Hawaiian garlands, hula skirts and palm tree headbands and enjoyed homemade cupcakes and mocktails together with a visit from an ice cream van.
Families saw photographs and videos of their loved ones enjoying the event on social media, with some donating to a JustGiving page. Staff members and the local community also donated.
Jeremy Dignum, home manager at Kingfisher Court, which is part of the Oakdale Care Group, said: “We had a great day and everyone joined in with the Hawaiian theme.
“Residents and staff worked hard and enjoyed the day, and it was great to have families support us from afar.”
