Mansfield Samaritans have received a donation from Mansfield Rotary Club to buy much-needed audio and IT equipment to support its efforts during the pandemic.

The Samaritans said: “Thank you for thinking of us and for the support you have already given to the people in the community.

“Our work in the community is very important to us and we are here to listen and support communities in times of need.

“Every six seconds Samaritans get a call for help and Mansfield branch have been there to respond to 16,377 contacts last year, we want to continue this work long into the future.

“Everyone in Mansfield are volunteers and we are looking at new ways of training and mentoring new volunteers.

“Any help we can get to be able to purchase IT equipment like wireless headphones, hand help whiteboards, attachments for our phones, will enable us to mentor new volunteers while maintaining social distancing messages. It is greatly appreciated.

“Thank you again for thinking of us, and for the great work you are doing in continuing to do what you have been doing for a long time in supporting the local community.”
