Mansfield District Council has congratulated its town centre Manager, Julie Snowdon, who in just 48 hours raised more than £1,000 for King’s Mill Hospital – double her original £500 target.

Julie started raising money after seeing an appeal by a respiratory nurses for cans and bottles of cold drinks for their break area.

Keyworker Julie said: “What can I say other than a massive thank-you to everyone who donated to provide our staff at King’s Mill with cold drinks and treats during their shifts.

“I saw an appeal from a nurse and wanted to do my bit to help. The NHS staff are amazing and we appreciate all their hard work and sacrifice to look after our community at this difficult time.”

Her JustGiving appeal raised £1,055 in total and thanks to additional family donations a cheque for £1,100 was handed in to the Sutton hospital.

Special thanks from Julie went to Mansfield Hosiery Mills Under-11s football team, who donated drinks, chocolate and biscuits from their tuck box, and to Jono Edwards, managing director at Cheeky Monkey Bars Ltd, for sharing her appeal and donating twice to ensure it reached £1,000.

“He also entertained us all with his songs in his PJs,” said Julie.
