Moving home with BuckleyBrown will help foodbank

Posted onPosted on 24th Apr

A foodbank in Mansfield Woodhouse that offers tonnes of help to those in need will itself get a helping hand when people put their house on the market with a Mansfield estate agency.

BuckleyBrown, on Leeming Street, will donate £100 of the selling fee for any new listing that it obtains before the end of May to the Sherwood Forest foodbank, located at the Stable Centre, on Church Street, Mansfield Woodhouse.

Estate agency co-director Jon Brown (above) said: “We’re proud to be a local business and we always want to do what we can for the local community. For example, we have already donated food and items such as nappies to the foodbank.

“We wondered what more we could do and following a discussion with the foodbank, we decided that we will donate £100 of the selling fee for any new listing that is obtained before the end of May.”

The Sherwood Forest foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust network, a project founded by local churches and community groups that work with a range of local agencies who meet people who are at risk of going hungry.

Major supermarkets have been supporting its work and Mansfield District Council staff have also been helping to manage people who attend.

Keith Hadfield, project manager at the foodbank, said: “We welcome the support of companies like BuckleyBrown. While we have good stock levels, none of us know how demand will be in the future, particularly with the current issues going on, so we always need to be prepared.

“We have had a lot of support but it is about the people who use our service, and they can range from people who are homeless, to those who have suddenly lost their jobs and need to feed their families.”
