Coronavirus: Pinders Opticians go the extra mile for customers

Posted onPosted on 30th Mar

Pinders Opticians, which has five practices in North Nottinghamshire, completed more than 50 deliveries of glasses and contact lenses around the county for their customers who were unable to attend the practice due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The practices — two in Mansfield and branches in Warsop, New Ollerton and Southwell — care for the eye health of many local people.

It was all hands on deck to make sure every client had the vital eyewear they needed as new guidelines on social distancing and leaving homes came into place.

While all Pinders branches are closed for the time being, the practices have created a helpline for any patient that needs specialist eye care advice.

The helpline is open Monday to Friday, from 9am–5pm, and on Saturday, from 9am–1pm, on the usual practice numbers.

“Due to the rapid changes that have taken place, we knew we had to get our clients’ eyewear and contact lenses to them as soon as possible,” said Peter Herniman, director (pictured above with a helper as he mans the helpline).

“My team throughout the five branches mobilised, working tirelessly in branch and delivering to ensure eyewear needs were sorted as quickly as possible.

“We would also like to invite clients with any non-urgent queries or concerns about their eye care to contact us via our helpline — and we look forward to seeing you in practice again as soon as we have weathered this storm.”

Pinders Opticians has provided professional eye care in North Nottinghamshire since 1946. As an independent business, the practices are very much a part of the local community.
