Reward lunch for college students

Posted onPosted on 23rd Mar

THE first of a new series of celebration lunches took place at Academy Transformation Trust Further Education College (ATTFE), Sutton.

Each month up to five learners will be chosen to attend a Principal’s Reward Lunch in recognition of their achievements.

The first recipients were Susie Johnson, Stuart Radford, Sophie Hey and Robert Hannah.

The college said Susie has created a wonderful journal covering her life and all her achievements.

It added: “Since attending courses at ATTFE Susie has made excellent progress and gained independence. Susie has been involved in many fundraising and social events and been a fantastic help.”

After listening to motivational guest speaker Stewart Nubley, Stuart took the first step to enquire about volunteering in a local charity shop, which is something he has always wanted to do but never had the courage to do so.

The college said: “This is a huge step forward for Stuart.”

Sophie continued learning outside of the classroom. “Sophie worked extremely hard at home to research and produce a poster with detailed writing about her favourite book, which she then presented in class,” added the college.

“Sophie developed a range of skills such as time management, self-organisation, confidence, research, reading and writing by going above and beyond to do this additional work in her own time.”

Robert found the courage and motivation to take action and follow his dream of signing up to attend a drama class after listening to guest speaker Stewart.
