The 45th annual Mansfield Rotary Junior Showtime final took place in front of a capacity audience at Mansfield Palace Theatre.

The overall winner was Liam Jackson, 16, from Directions Theatre Arts, Chesterfield, who performed a very dramatic, skilled dance routine to also win the dance section.

Second was the dance troupe (13-18 years) from Dancemania, Sutton, who performed a rock ‘n’ roll number that won the dance troupe category, and 16-year-old Nicola Lawson, from the Christine March Dance School Kirkby, was third after winning the variety section with an aerial silks performance.

The final followed three evenings of heats at Mansfield Library Theatre earlier in February.

It was jointly presented by Jo Davies, of BBC Radio Nottingham, and show organiser Paul Bacon, who said it had been another exceptional year of outstanding local talent.

“The judges had an extremely difficult job choosing the winners of Mansfield Rotary Junior Showtime 2020. The event is always a great opportunity for young people to showcase their talent,” he added.
