Mansfield Building Society has raised £17,243 for Macmillan Cancer Support over three years — trebling its original £5,000 fundraising target.
The money raised will help people in Mansfield, Ashfield and Chesterfield by providing financial, practical and emotional support to individuals and families affected by cancer.
Gev Lynott, chief executive of the building society, said: “We’re extremely proud to have supported Macmillan over the past three years. The tremendous fundraising effort of our staff and members shows just how much this charity means to people.
“We’ve climbed mountains, ran marathons, cycled and baked our way through some amazing fundraising events. We hope the contribution we’ve made can make a real difference to those in need.”
Katherine Booth, fundraising manager at Macmillan, thanked the society for all their fundraising efforts,
“This is such an amazing achievement by Mansfield Building Society. Everyone has been so enthusiastic about raising money, which is reflected in the incredible amount raised.
“The majority of our income is generated from fundraising and without the commitment of organisations like The Mansfield we’d struggle to support as many people as we do.
“The donation will help relieve the stress that cancer causes and have a huge impact on the day-to-day lives of so many people as they go through their treatment.
“We’d like to thank Mansfield Building Society for choosing Macmillan three years ago, and for their commitment and hard work with fundraising.”
Mansfield Building Society will be announcing its new charity partner for the next two years shortly.
