Confirming his position as one of the region’s finest triathletes, Mansfield Triathlon Club’s Tony Alcock continued his good form by winning his age group in the Midlands Sprint Series.
The series consists of four races — the Lincoln Sprint Triathlon, Nottingham Sprint Triathlon, Southwell Sprint Triathlon and the Woodhall Spa Sprint Triathlon — with competitors picking up series points based on their position in each event.
Tony was placed in the top three in all his races and took straight wins at Southwell and Lincoln.
His daughter, Emily, was second overall in the same series — finishing strongly in all her races. She also took third overall in the East Midland’s Junior Series.
Kurtis Nogueira was fourth overall in the Midlands Sprint Series. Kurtis improved throughout the season in his first year of adult racing.
He is another in a long line of junior athletes who have transitioned to adult racing as part of the club’s junior-to-adult transition programme. Kurtis joins Emily Alcock, a previous graduate of the programme, to support younger juniors as they work to transition to adult racing.
Tony was also in action at the inaugural Outlaw X race, this time joining Hannah Shooter and Daniel Wilson.
The race celebrated 10 years of Outlaw races and took place in the grounds of Thoresby Park. The race consisted of a 1.2-mile swim in Thoresby Lake, a 56-mile ride and a 13.1-mile run through Thoresby Park.
Hannah was third in her category in 5hrs 9mins 56secs, whilst Tony finished in 4-54.47 and Daniel Wilson in 6-29.27.
