Lammas Leisure Centre, Sutton, is celebrating after scooping the Kids Award, which recognises children’s sports provision, at an industry awards night.
The ukactive Awards are the health and fitness sector’s largest celebration of innovation and excellence — and Everyone Active, which operates Lammas in partnership with Ashfield District Council, also won awards for Digital Transformation and Insight.
Lammas won the Kids Award for putting national challenges such as childhood obesity and activity guidelines at its focal point, while utilising its facilities to engage children and young people in activities to benefit their health.
Paul Blakemore, general manager, said: “From our official partnership with Inclusive Skating, to our specialist swimming lesson support for children with mental and physical disabilities including ADHD and autism, we are committed to helping all young people stay active in a fun and motivating environment.”
Commenting on the achievement, Councillor Tom Hollis, deputy leader of Ashfield District Council, said: “The facilities that are available for young people in Ashfield are something we should be proud of. The award is just the icing on the cake following the fantastic work that has been put in by the Council and our partners at Lammas Leisure Centre.”
