West Nottinghamshire College’s Students’ Union has revealed its new president after voting closed on Friday.
Taking over the reins from current president Marie Oakton is 19-year-old Will Jordan, of Edwinstowe, who won with 245 votes.
Sport and exercise science student Will beat fellow student Morgan Fairhurst by 171 votes.
Will begins his role at president next academic year and has many new ideas and initiatives to offer students.
A jubilant Will said: “I’m thrilled to get the position of Students’ Union president and I’m looking forward to the role. I hope to bring lots more fundraising activities for the students to get involved in.
“During my two years at college I’ve been involved with many extra-curricular and volunteering activities and have found them to be very rewarding.”
Marie Oakton added: “Will is sure to be a great asset to the Students’ Union and I wish him the best of luck. The role of president has become more widely recognised over the years. He’ll be joined by a new SU executive team in October who will be able to offer the support to get all the new initiatives off the ground.”
