Christmas tree knitting project launched

Posted onPosted on 21st May

An Edwinstowe business owner is launching a Christmas knitting project in honour of grandmothers – and is calling on people who knit and crochet to join in.

Ursula Urbansdotter, who runs the newly-opened Woolshop and Knitting studio (Unit 12) in the Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre, Edwinstowe, is starting the initiative on Thursday (23rd May), from 10am to noon, and hopes it will become a weekly event.

She has called her plan the Granny Square Christmas Tree Project “as a homage to our beloved grannies who had the patience to teach us knitting and crocheting.”

Ursula added: “We aim too make a gorgeous Granny Square Tree. If we start now I hope we can finish before Christmas.

“To complete this lovely tree I need some help. I’m starting day groups, Knit and Knatter, here in my shop on Thursday. There will be refreshments etc.

“Other days will be added as I’m planning it to be a weekly event. People can bring their own odds and ends of yarn or buy here in my shop.

“It will be a great get-together project that can bring people together and in the end celebrate our lovely grannies.
