Young designers wanted to create welcome sign at Materials Recovery Facility

Veolia, Nottinghamshire County Council waste contractors, is seeking young designers to create a new welcome sign for the county’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Mansfield.

Thousands of visitors are welcomed every year to the MRF including schools, community groups, and local residents, who find out more about recycling in Nottinghamshire.

A bold and eye catching sign design is sought that links to the important work that happens at the facility – sorting paper, cardboard, cans, tins and plastic bottles collected from homes all across Nottinghamshire, ready for their onward journey to be recycled.

The winning design will be enlarged to 100 x 65cm and be sited at the visitor entrance.

The competition is open to primary, secondary or home schooled children in Nottinghamshire and the outline template for the design and entry forms can be downloaded from our website www.veolia.co.uk/nottinghamshire/welcome alongside the terms and conditions of the competition. The design must fit within the white box of the frame template for the entry to be considered.

The winning designer will receive a bundle of recycled goodies and art supplies and be invited along with their choice of guests to an official unveiling of the new sign at the facility. They will also have the opportunity to go on a tour of the MRF as part of the prize presentation*.

The closing date for entries is Friday, 5th April.

Entries can be posted to: ‘Welcome sign competition’, Veolia, Warren Way, Crown Farm Industrial Estate, Forest Town, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG19 0FL or scanned and emailed to: [email protected] good luck!

*MRF tours available to those aged 7 and above, and are accessed by an external gridded staircase.
