Chance to bid for share of £250,000 safer community funding

Community-based groups committed to making Nottinghamshire safer are invited to bid for a share of £250,000 to help tackle crime and disorder.

The fund, available for projects commencing from April 2019, gives local groups and third sector organisations the opportunity to apply for funding support from Nottinghamshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping.

He said: “We will never be able to arrest our way to safer communities. People need help to make positive changes to their lives and break old and destructive habits. The support of our community partners on the ground is already achieving this in more ways than we can imagine.

“But public funding is scarce and so it is critical we continue, where we can, to support those third sector services which listen to people’s problems and support them to live clean and healthy lives while closing the door for good on a life of crime.

“I would urge any community group or project which is focused on doing long-term good for the benefit of Nottinghamshire to apply for this funding and help us to keep Nottinghamshire safe.”

Successful applicants will be asked to show evidence of supporting the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan themes which include protecting vulnerable people, helping and supporting victims, tackling crime and antisocial behaviour and transforming services and delivering quality policing.

Application forms and further information for the PCC’s Community Safety Fund are available online at: www.nottinghamshire.pcc.police.uk

Grants of up to a maximum of £25,000 are available and organisations can apply for one project only.

Successful projects will deliver during some or all of the period between 1 April, 2019 and March 31, 2020.

The deadline for receipt of electronic and hard copy applications is midday on Monday, 14 January 2019.
