Pinxton Amateur Boxing Club (ABC) has received £500 from Mansfield Building Society’s Community Support Scheme to buy new gloves, ropes and punching bags.
The club, which has males and females from the age of five, offers in-depth and affordable coaching.
Paul Beardmore, a founder of Pinxton ABC, said: “As a self-funded community group, donations help us improve our members’ experience and keep the club vibrant.
“The money from The Mansfield’s Community Support Scheme has covered the costs of much-needed gloves, ropes and punch bags and the new equipment will provide long-lasting value to the club for many years to come.”
Carole Dallison, Customer Service Manager at The Mansfield, pictured with club members, said “Providing boxing equipment means that the group can now help more young people learn new skills, gain confidence and use boxing as a healthy way to let off steam.
“It’s clear the members enjoy taking part in a sport which they may not otherwise have the opportunity to try and it’s great to see the children all so engaged with the training sessions.”
The Mansfield Building Society’s Community Support Scheme funds local groups and organisations in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and meets twice yearly in May and November to consider applications.
