Rotary Club of Mansfield Coast to Coast Challenge

Two Mansfield Rotarians – president Denise Starkey and past president Cate Hunt – are to take on the challenge of walking 210 miles to the Rotary District Conference, Scarborough.

They will set off from St Bees, Cumbria, and walk the coast-to-coast trail to Robin Hood’s Bay, before going on to Scarborough.

The duo will start the challenge on September 19 and they aim to be in Scarborough in time for the conference on 4th October.

The aim of the long-distance walk is to raise £1,000 through sponsorship to support the local community and charities in Mansfield.

Mansfield Rotary Club is probably best known for raising money to support the local community and charities through Santa’s Sleigh at Christmas.

Both Denise and Cate, who have been training since January, are personally covering all the associated expenses for the walk so that every penny of sponsorship raised will go to supporting the local community.

Cate, who is retired, has completed several long-distance walks but for Denise, a business owner in Newark, it is her first major challenge.

There are sponsorship forms as well as a JustGiving page to support their efforts at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/denise-starkey1
