Boost for Mansfield parks

Park life is a lot more fun for children in the area, following a £110,000 investment by Mansfield District Council in three parks.

The Oak Tree estate in Mansfield now boasts a new £65,000 play park with top-quality facilities for children aged two to 12, including swings, two multi-play units, a trampoline, rotating seesaw, roundabout, talk tubes, spinning bowl and springers.
The new area, which is an extension to existing play provision, is fenced off.

The Bellamy Road play area has benefitted from £10,000 of improvements, including a new set of swings, a multi-play unit and new play surface.

At Manor Park, Mansfield Woodhouse, £65,000-worth of improvements have been carried out thanks to £35,000 provided by the district council and £30,000 provided by Nottinghamshire County Council LIS funding.

Coun Philip Shields, portfolio holder for the environment at the district council, said: “We are continually striving to improve and enhance our award winning parks. The new play areas at Oak Tree, Manor and Bellamy are a fantastic resource for local families and children, who can now enjoy top-quality facilities.”
