Ashfield District Council’s construction partner, J. Tomlinson, contributed to the fun day in partnership with Active Ashfield.

The fun day offered the chance for families to take a picnic, get involved and enjoy the free activities and wellbeing information on offer.

There were appearances from Disney characters, Elsa and Spiderman, and Rocky from Paw Patrol as well as a free bouncy castle, fruit kebabs from the Co-op and information on how to get involved in activities, the good neighbour scheme, projects and volunteering in the area from the Sutton Locality Team.

Health and Wellbeing information and advice was provided by Everyone Active, Everyone Health, Macmillan Cancer Support, Sure Start, Troubled Families and Smoke Free Notts.

Martin Ardron, operations director at J. Tomlinson, said: “It was great to see the community coming together, with such a wide range of health and wellbeing activities and advice on offer.”

Coun Amanda Brown, Ashfield District Council portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, said: “What an enjoyable event the day was for families.

“The range of activities and entertainment meant there was something for all to enjoy.”
