Raising money for children in Nepal

Posted onPosted on 27th Jul

Esland, a Derbyshire-based residential childcare provider for Mansfield and Ashfield youngsters among others, is raising money for a charity in Nepal.

MySmallHelp, like Esland, aims to help disadvantaged and vulnerable young people with better life chances.

Esland directors John Stamp, Josh Stamp and Linzi Sim have visited Nepal to support projects, including helping a family living in a rat-infested dwelling and providing ongoing support to 12 orphans to pay for their food, education and accommodation.

Many children in Nepal living in poverty are unable to go to school at all, either because parents can’t afford to send them or because the youngsters have to work to supplement the household income.

Esland is staging three events aimed at raising money to finish building a school in the mountains outside of Kathmandu, which will provide education for more disadvantaged children.

The Esland Gala Dinner will take place on 28th October at Shottle Hall, Derbyshire.

Tickets, priced £50, are available at www.eventbrite.co.uk (search for Esland Gala).

The Esland Big Cycle will start on 22nd September and run over 10 days, starting from Esland’s most northern children’s provision in Doncaster and ending at their most southern one in Kent.

People can donate at justgiving.com (search for Esland Nepal Big Cycle 2017).

In November, a group of Esland staff will go to Kathmandu to take part in the its first Nepal Experience, spending time with the children and young people Esland supports at the Marybert School.
