Care and treatment received at King’s Mill Hospitals is rated positively by patients, according to the national in-patient survey of 2013.
The findings come from the 11th annual survey of in-patient services and facilities by the Care Quality Commission.
In-patients were asked what they thought about different aspects of the care and treatment they received at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Results have improved on 42 questions from the previous year and Sherwood Forest Hospitals scored better than other trusts nationally for patients:
Having enough privacy when discussing their condition or treatment
Receiving letters that were written in a way they could understand
Noting that handwash gels were available for patients and visitors to use
Being offered a choice of food
Not being bothered by noise at night from other patients or hospital staff
Being given answers to all questions about their operation or procedure
Having clear written or printed information about medicines
Susan Bowler, executive director of nursing and quality for the trust, said: “We are pleased with these results and the feedback from our patients, especially as this survey took place during a time of intense scrutiny for the trust.
“The survey results provide valuable information about how patients perceive their experience of hospital care. The fact that our hospitals did so well is indicative of just how we are committed to continuously improving our services, and our staff are dedicated to providing the best possible care for patients.
“The results give the trust an excellent foundation to continue driving the work that has been championed and progressed during 2013/14 and into 2014. This includes our new Quality for all values, which are our pledge to patients and colleagues, supporting our staff to provide the best patient experience and outcomes.
“As pleased as we are that the trust received these very favourable results, we are not complacent. There are areas identified by the survey that have similar scores to the previous year, so we will continue working hard to provide the best possible services to our patients”.
