Construction company Robert Woodhead Ltd (part of the Woodhead Group) saw turnover rise by 27% in 2016, with a similar increase in the number of employees.
The Edwinstowe-based business, which was named this year in the London Stock Exchange’s 1,000 companies to inspire Britain report, saw turnover rise to £51.8m in the financial year, exceeding £50m for the first time.
It completed its first ever £10m order, a project to deliver a housing improvement programme at New Bolsover Model Village.
The company also secured the £5.4m contract for the construction of the University of Nottingham’s Research Acceleration and Demonstration (RAD) Building.
Managing director David Woodhead said: “In the past few years we have seen significant growth across the whole business, which has seen our staff numbers increase, as well as the size and scale of projects we are undertaking.”
During 2016 the business invested more than £250,000 in training, from supporting apprentices as they start their career, to providing leadership training to those progressing into management positions within the business.
