Autism East Midlands is inviting local businesses and residents to an open evening at its flexible day support centre, The Sherwood Centre, Hallam Way, Mansfield Woodhouse, on Thursday, from 5.30pm–7pm.

Christine Saxon, development lead, said: “Joining the mayor, Coun Kate Allsop, and Mansfield MP Sir Alan Meale, visitors will be able find out about autism, Autism East Midlands services and the support we provide for the people of Mansfield and the surrounding area.

“Figures show that in Mansfield and Ashfield alone, more than 2,000 children and adults have an autistic spectrum condition. The impact of autism is felt right across the community and we are endeavouring to support all communities in the East Midlands to become more autism friendly.”
