Family cooking at Asquith Primary School

Eight families at Asquith Primary School, Mansfield, took part in four weeks of family cooking, focusing on health and diversity.

The sessions, funded by a National Lottery Celebrate grant, looked at trying food from other cultures and health.

Sandra Alvey and Barbara Phillips, from Mansfield District Council, showed the families how to produce healthy and nutritious meals using food from different cultures.

Asquith head Clare Harding said: “It is important to us at Asquith Primary School that we give the children as many exciting experiences as possible.

“We have worked alongside Mansfield District Council staff to offer well planned, effective sessions that have encouraged our children and parents to try food they might not prepare at home.”

The council is supporting the school’s Food and Music Festival on 23rd June.
