A caring Mansfield couple asked friends to make donations to two charities in lieu of receiving gifts to mark their golden wedding.

Joan Jones and the Rev Bob Jones, a Methodist minister in Mansfield, presented £500 each to the Bethel Methodist Church, Mansfield, and the Emily Harris Foundation, which supports the work of the neo-natal unit at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton.

The money was handed over at the regular Bethel church coffee morning, which is held on the first Saturday of each month at 10am.
