Rotary’s charity sleep-out

Posted onPosted on 3rd Dec

Kirkby Rotarians with members of other local community groups will again be braving the cold for their second annual Big Christmas Sleep-out on the town centre’s plaza.

As well as members of Kirkby Rotary Club, a number of students and teachers from Ashfield School will also take part in the fundraising event, which takes place on Saturday, 17th December, from 10pm to 6am.

Rotarian Philip Hurt, club president, says: “Equipped with only a plastic sheet, a sleeping bag and a cardboard box, we’ll be raising money to support the many homeless on the streets of Nottingham.”

Anyone who would like to join the sleep-out should contact the club on 07548 694 937 or via the website www.kirkbyrotary.org.uk

In another major part of Kirkby Rotary’s Christmas programme, a Santa’s Grotto is open at Reuben Shaw’s garden centre, Moor Green, welcoming families every Saturday and Sunday, from 10am until 4pm, and continuing until December 18th. All the proceeds will go to charity, with the Kirkby Forget-Me-Not Dementia Support Group as the headline recipients.
