Former Welbeck Colliery cricketer Jake Ball claimed the best ever figures by an English player on his international debut, taking five wickets — including two in successive balls — as England (309-8) beat Bangladesh by 21 runs in a 50-over thriller at Dhaka.
The hosts lost their last six wickets for 17 runs as Ball struck to turn the game around.
Afterwards the Nottinghamshire pace bowler said: “It was incredible to get a five-for on my debut.
“Thankfully I managed to get it in the last over. I just tried to hit the pitch hard and under the lights the bounce was a bit more effective.
“They were difficult (hot) conditions for my first game, but I really enjoyed it.”
