Mansfield Building Society is to hold a focus day for people approaching or in retirement on Friday, 9 September at its branches in Mansfield, Chesterfield, Sutton and Kirkby.
The aim is to raise awareness of The Mansfield’s services and encourage more people to think about the financial options available to them as they approach retirement.
An area of focus for lenders in 2016 has been lending to individuals who are in or fast-aapproaching retirement, with the Building Societies Association (BSA) launching a guide aimed at giving older borrowers the facts and information they need. Visitors on the focus day will be able to access the guide and talk to advisers about how the Mansfield supports customers looking for mortgage finance later in life.
On the focus day, the society will also be formally launching a partnership with Dignity Caring Funeral Services, one of the UK’s leading prepaid funeral plan providers.
Area operations manager Tara Nicholson said people should start making plans as they approach retirement and beyond.
“We would all like to think that retirement will provide freedom to enjoy the life we have all dreamed of through our working lives,” she said.
“Planning for the future and understanding what options are available will help people make the most of their retirement.
“As an independent building society, we are looking forward to speaking with local people to find out their needs and concerns whilst raising awareness of the benefits of financial planning to support a happy retirement. We’re also keen to provide help and support to those already in retirement to raise awareness of the options available.”
For the Retirement Focus Day, Mansfield, Chesterfield and Sutton branches will be open from 9.00am to 5pm with Kirkby open from 10am to 2pm.
