Nicola Truswell, 38, from Berry Hill, Mansfield, is taking on the challenge of running the Mansfield 10k this year to raise funds for her son’s nursery.

A short time ago the nursery borrowed night camera equipment to show the children their night-time visitors. Nicola aims to raise enough funds through her run to buy the nursery its own equipment to carry on this practice.

Nicola said: “The children loved being able to see the animals so much, and it makes a lot of sense to me to fundraise for something close to home. It will be great to see not only Fletcher, but classes full of children in the future enjoy the wildlife on their doorstep.”

Nicola is training hard, fitting in runs around her full-time job, which sees her spend two days a week in London as an account manager for Seven Seas, and her home life. Despite the busy days she has still managed to complete more than 200km in training so far in her bid to complete the Mansfield 10k.

“It will be the first time I am taking part in the Mansfield 10k but I’m really looking forward to being able to say I completed it now,” she said.

“I think that running is a brilliant way to keep fit and healthy – and I’m much more driven to get out and train as I have a goal to work towards and a cause to run for!”

The Mansfield 10k takes place on Sunday 21st August 2016, and there are a limited number of places for this year’s event. With places running out quickly, we advise booking your place sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
