First for Mansfield Rotary Club

Posted onPosted on 22nd Jul

Mansfield Rotary Club has appointed the first female president in its 87-year history, Cate Hunt who succeeded Phil Richmond.

The three senior officers at the club are women for the first time, meaning there will be a female president for the next three years.

Cate and Nicky Tomlinson became the first women to join the club in 2011 and there are now nine women members.

The club, which raises money for local charities and good causes among its community work for those in need, is well known for its annual Christmas sleigh, which tours the town in December, and its Junior Showtime and Courage Awards events.

A barbecue at the home of Rotarian John Whiteley recently raised £756.

In June, the new president completed a 48.1-challenge walk around the coastline of Jersey in 14 hours and 13 minutes, raising £800.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the club, which meets on Tuesdays at Sherwood Forest Golf Club, should call 01623 706540 or go to www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/homepage.php?ClubID=1316
