Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton held its annual charity event One Great Day, raising more than £500 for local charity the Emily Harris Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.
The 10-hour fundraising event featured a range of activities, including a non-stop cycle ride in the centre with a team of volunteer staff and supporters.
The team completed the ride on one of two spin bikes provided by Lammas Leisure Centre, Sutton — as well as raising money with a tombola, cake decorating classes, cake sale and prize hook-a-duck competition.
Chloe O’Donnell, manager of the centre, said: “We are delighted with the support we received, particularly from our generous customers, who never cease to amaze us with their generosity.
“Thanks to everyone who put into our collection, took part in our activities, and donated time and prizes — and generally provided us with support and encouragement.”
Money raised will be split between the two charities.
The Emily Harris Foundation was the chosen charity of Idlewells following a Facebook appeal for nominations of local children’s charities.
“Several people suggested the foundation, so we got in touch with its founder, Clare Harris, who was delighted,” said Chloe.
Clare lost her five-month-old daughter, Emily, ten years ago and set up the Foundation in her memory.
The foundation raises money for Kings Mill Hospital’s Neonatal Unit and families affected by premature birth by providing equipment, support and information.
