People across Nottinghamshire are planning a whole host of silly and enjoyable events in one day of fundraising to celebrate 15 years of Framework, a homelessness charity that helps over 11,000 people in and across the East Midlands every year.
This year Do It for Framework Day (DIFF Day) will be a 24-hour push of do-gooding on Friday, June 10th with a donation target of £10,000 to beat from 2015. Local businesses, faith, sports and activity groups will take part and Framework is urging more people to come forward, join in and beat last year’s target.
1st Kirkby-In-Ashfield Scout Group will be getting sponsored and sleeping out.
DIFF Day sponsors, The Nottingham Building Society are offering £1,500 of match funding on donations before July.
On June 10th, amongst other plans they will run a bake sale, a cardboard shelter making competition and are launching a ‘Change for Good Campaign’, encouraging anyone who has spare small change to drop into their local branch and donate it directly to Framework.
Gary Womersley, Head of The Nottingham Branch Network said: “We all have those coins lying around so, we are encouraging people to have a change clear out to help us reach £1,500. If they hit this target, placed end to end, the change would span around one and a half miles, the same distance from the our Upper Parliament Street branch to Framework’s Head Office.”
Jess Powell, Partnerships Manager at Framework added: “Support from businesses like The Nottingham is incredibly valuable to us in raising awareness of Framework. The funds raised are vital to continue to deliver essential local services and to continue our support to help vulnerable people and we are incredibly grateful to all those who have come forward and to every person who will.”
Framework and their Mascot Roofus – a large red house popular amongst children – are offering help for supporters taking part in DIFF Day including balloons, tools and resources for people to have birthday parties or events of their own.
