The Samworth Church Academy’s under-15s girls’ rugby team were one of 12 schools to compete at the national finals of the RFU girls’ competition.

In the group stages the Mansfield academy defeated St Clere’s and Shotton Hall 2-1, drew 1-1 with Kings Of Wessex and Thomas Alleynes, and lost 2-0 to Priestland.

Samworth then lost a play-off for fifth and sixth place 3-1.

Try scorers were Heidi Seaton (3), Jodie Baker, Emma Cross and Georgina Tasker.
