Chance to try sailing

The final countdown to ‘Push The Boat Out’ is ON as six sailing clubs and centres across Nottinghamshire are ready for families to try sailing for free or low cost from 14-22 May.

RYA Push The Boat Out is the national ‘have-a-go’ at sailing festival organised by sailing’s national governing body, which will see no fewer than 44 events take place at 26 venues throughout the East Midlands, amongst more than 300 nationwide, over the course of nine days.

The six Nottinghamshire clubs and centres ready to help you Push The Boat Out are Notts County SC on Hoveringham Reservoir, the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, Trent Valley SC in Long Eaton, Girton SC near Newark, Sutton-in-Ashfield SC and Daneshill SC, Retford.

Events can include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, bigger boats, sailing for the disabled and even powerboat rides, and although each event is different, all are geared to appeal to as many people as possible, regardless of age, ability or experience.

All you will need to get afloat is some comfortable clothes and old trainers you don’t mind getting wet and, weather depending, a waterproof and/or sunscreen. Buoyancy aids, equipment and safety brief will be provided by the venues and refreshments will be available.
